I got a Mr Buddy Heater a while back. It’s the first camping gear I’ve used that requires those small green propane canisters, usually Coleman brand from what I’ve seen. It’s been great, warms up the tent and all, no
problem. I have run into one issue though, not necessarily about the heater itself, but the canisters. Mainly, when they’re only half-used. I have a nice little collection of half-full (or empty) Coleman propane canisters
And no clue what to do with them. Or, had.
I looked around on all the major websites, just kidding, mainly Amazon of course, and found a possible solution in the Gas One Dual Gas Camp Stove (GS-3400P). This thing claimed to be able to use both butane and propane, which was pretty much exactly what I was looking for. I went over the reviews and felt it was worth a shot, and now it’s here for our reviewing pleasure.
So, basically, it works great. It does both butane and propane like it says. Boils the water around the same time the old butane one does.
On Connectors
Prior to scouring the internet for an alternative camp stove, I tried looking around for possible mods I can apply to my existing one, for money’s sake. Unfortunately, it looks like most of the regular ‘single-gas camp stoves’ come with a non-threaded connector that wouldn’t make things as easy as just connecting external pipe for a propane tank. The stove needs to come with the connector threaded.
Does it Bring the Fire
Yes, it burns just as well as the standard camp stoves.
At the End of the Day
This is what I’m taking with me for car camping for the time being so we’ll see if this review needs any updates. Otherwise, it works great and I’d suggest it for anyone.
