Leatherman Squirt Review

Leatherman Squirt Review

For the longest time I’ve had a Leatherman Micra, like, maybe 10 years or so. I originally got it at Costco because I just thought Leathermans were cool, it would be handy, and it was probably the smallest and cheapest one I could get my hands on. Initially, I didn’t know what to use it for, it was literally because I thought it was cool that I got it. Over time I realized that it had a lot of practical tools like the various screw drivers, the bottle opener, and even the eyeglass screwdriver. I’ve used it pretty frequently since that realization, but one thing I always felt lacking was that it didn’t have plyers.

Actually, I remember an initial wave of disappointment, like, isn’t that what Leathermans are all about?

So in comes the Squirt. It has pretty much all the tools that the Micra had (that I used, sans tweezers) plus plyers!
The Squirt PS4 itself is a tad smaller than the Micra, the main drawback about it that I could think of was the smaller bottle-opener, it takes maybe 2 or 3 pulls on a bottlecap with that thing than the Micra, which had a nice long one to offer a single clean pull (or pry, I don’t know what it’s called).

In many aspects I’d say the Squirt is a step up from the Micra, but one thing that did stick out to me was that while the Micra would enclose all the tools within it’s folding mechanism, the Squirt has them outside of it. I’m guessing this would expose the tools to extra wear and tear, how much though I’m guessing probably depends on the user’s occupation, or uses of it.

I’m really happy with my Squirt, I use it pretty frequently. I’m probably also the guy that goes out of my way to use it instead of something more practical.

Anyways, here’s a vide review I made…
